The Piaggio Ape World Championship is a single make, single class series for the Piaggio Ape 50 (2 stroke) vehicle. All vehicles must be of sound construction and mechanical condition and be well maintained. These Technical Regulations are applicable to all competitors competing in the Championship.
Where a modification is neither expressly forbidden nor endorsed, competitors are strongly advised to consult with the championship organiser prior to modification.
The organisers reserve the right before or after any race in the championship to subject any of the competing vehicles for special eligibility scrutineering. Thereupon, the competitor shall immediately place the vehicle under the control of the organisers and be deemed to have permitted all such scrutineering, examination and testing as the organisers may responsibly require to undertake.
The original single cylinder engine is permitted to be upgraded using a Malossi engine kit up to 55mm bore using standard stroke.
Exhaust choice is free.
Carburettor choice is free
Suspension design and system is free.
Rear track must remain at original factory width.
Braking system is free.
Maximum 4 ratios forward and reverse. Ratio choice free.
There is no control tyre, though all vehicles must run the standard size (100/90×10)
Minimum driver age 16. There are no minimum licence requirements.
All drivers must wear a helmet and overalls.
All vehicles must be fitted with a roll over bar and front crash bar that meets with the organiser’s approval.
Window nets must be fitted to door windows.
